The top five places for a photo shoot in Paris

12/02/2018

Paris is such a beautiful city and an ideal place for photo lovers. The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Jardin du Luxembourg… Where to start? With all these amazing places, it’s easy to think you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to finding the perfect location for your photo shoot. So Lodgis have rounded up a selection of their five favourite spots, some of which might seem a little less obvious, but nevertheless make for perfect photos!

1. Along the banks of the Seine

Located in the heart of Paris, the Seine’s riverbanks are a great place for your photo shoot. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991, the banks of the Seine are rich in history and architecture. They stretch from Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower. It’s a great location because it’s so versatile: it can suit all your photography needs. With so many monuments and bridges, you have a variety of backdrops to choose from!

Try heading to Ile Saint Louis and the west bank if you want to give your photos a Woody Allen vibe. Family photo shoot? There are lots of green spaces and floating gardens which would make great locations, especially in summer or on a sunny day! Or for something a bit more romantic, the Pont Alexandre III is perfect. It’s beautifully ornate and gives stunning views of the city. It’s not surprising that this is a popular place for both engagement and wedding photos. Try going in the evening when the sunset will provide the perfect lighting for your photos.

2. Montmartre

Given its association with art and many famous artists, it only seems fitting to include Montmartre on this list. The place is brimming with history. What is now part of the 18th district was once a small village, home to many artists during the Belle Epoque. Today, there are still many street artists, old buildings and cafes which have helped it to retain its old-fashioned charm.

With its old cafes and narrow cobbled streets, the traditional scenes at Montmartre will take you back in time, and give your photos a real Parisian feel. We recommend visiting Place de St Pierre or the Musée de Montmartre and its surrounding gardens. Both locations are very picturesque and are a bit quieter (away from the more popular touristy areas!), leaving you in peace to take your photos without being surrounded by hundreds of tourists!

3. Covered galleries

The galeries marchandes in the 2nd and 9th districts were the first shopping arcades to be built in Paris. Famous for their beautiful architecture and interiors, these covered walkways are not to be missed. And with lots of boutiques and cafes, there is certainly a lot to see. Galerie Vivienne on Rue de la Banque is the perfect place for taking photos. It’s light and airy, and has a high glass ceiling and beautiful mosaic floor. Galerie Colbert, on Rue Vivienne, is also worth seeing thanks to its glass dome and old architecture.

These two galeries are very close together. So, once you have explored one, be sure to visit the other for more beautiful locations for your photos. The Passage des Panoramas is also a must-see. With a variety of charming boutiques and cafes, it is the oldest covered passage in the city. It has maintained its original architecture, and the old-fashioned boutiques would make the perfect backdrop to give your photos a vintage Parisian feel.

4. Rue Crémieux

With its pastel colours, Rue Crémieux is by far the prettiest street in all of Paris. It is without a doubt one of the most Instagrammable locations in the city and has the perfect aesthetic for your photo shoot. The cobbled street and brightly coloured murals give the street lots of character. It is easy to see why Rue Crémieux is a firm favourite of bloggers and Instagrammers alike.

It’s located in the 12th district in the Quinze Vingts area, very close to Gare de Lyon. But it could be anywhere. Just walking down this charming little street will make you forget you’re in the centre of Paris. The bright colours make this street picture perfect and is definitely worth visiting to give your photos that something extra. It’s cheerful and happy, and will give your photos a little boost as well as making you smile and brightening your day.

5. A Parisian apartment

Last but not least, a Parisian apartment is another great location for your photo shoot. Parisian apartments are renowned for their Haussmann style architecture, with wrought iron balconies, stone exteriors and large windows, and so they provide the perfect backdrop. However, it’s not just the exteriors but also the interiors of apartments that would be great for photos.

With good lighting and lovely views from your window, you don’t even have to leave your apartment to take beautiful pictures! So instead of going to a studio or venturing out somewhere else, why not try using your apartment to give your photos a more personal touch?

So there you have it! Our top five locations for your professional photo shoot in Paris. Whether it’s for a wedding, fashion blog or just for your family, Paris has lots of stunning places to suit all your photography needs. From the old-fashioned charm of Montmartre to the colourful apartments of Rue Crémieux, we guarantee that you’ll find something perfect on this list, whatever the purpose of your photo shoot.
